The Joys of Freedom

With Mac and Jennifer Keegan

Jennifer is a visiting teacher from Dublin. See below.

Saturday 2nd July 10am – 3pm at Newcastle Buddhist Centre

An in depth exploration of the use of yoga for clearly focusing awareness, letting go of tension and releasing into freedom.

We accumulate tension through the stresses of everyday life, through unresolved emotional experiences and through patterns of thought. Coping with tension can become so habitual we no longer notice its presence. It can become difficult to locate, let alone release. Yoga asanas, correctly applied, allow us focus awareness and to let go of physical tension. This process can be deeply satisfying in itself but also leads, through its basis on the breath, to an increasingly profound feeling of stillness and delight, of being in tune with the nature of life.

10am – 12.30pm Asana practice with Jennifer

12.30pm – 1.30pm Break for refreshment

1.30pm – 3.00pm Chanting and Pranayama with Mac

Cost £20 payable in advance.

Jennifer Keegan

Jennifer has been learning yoga for about 10 years and teaching for about 6. Having built up her knowledge from a Sivananda Hatha base via the more precise Iyengar style, she is focusing increasingly on the internal dynamics of yoga practice: on how to hold an energetic charge in the outer body whilst at the same time allowing the inner body or core to soften and truly release at a deep level.

Her main influences are Dynamic yoga as taught by Godfrey Devereux and increasingly the Scaravelli techniques which focus on 'unbuttoning' pockets of tension and tightness thus allowing the body and mind to discover the joys of freedom.
